Kumkum is stocked well in temples and orthodox Hindu households as it is used much in religious ceremonies and other auspicious events.
It is particularly offered to Devi (divine mother) and worn by Hindu women in between their hair-parting indicating their marital status. It is also worn as Tilaka on forehead by Hindu men. This set of pots is old and well worn and made of bronze. A fine item to collect.
