A beautiful, old copper statue of four-armed Vishnu seated on a lotus pedestal.
The work is minimalistic but that seems to compliment the statue. Vishnu is seen four-armed, holding Shankha (conch) and Chakra (disc) in his upper two hands. One of his lower hands holds Gada (mace) and the other is poised to give Upadesha (instruction) with raised index finger.
This statue could well have been a part of a set with Sanatkumaras (the four mind-born sons of Brahma) sitting around Vishnu or Garuda sitting beside his feet taking Upadesha from him.
This is quite an old copper statue and there is little time induced damage but that only enhances the piece’s antiquity.
