Large and intricately carved bronze statue of devi Lakshmi in standing pose. Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth and consort of Maha Vishnu, the supreme person. Lakshmi has eight aspects, Dhana Lakshmi being one of them. This fantastic bronze statue is of Dhana Lakshmi – one who bestows financial wealth.
Lakshmi is closely associated with Padma (lotus), which is a symbol of purity, beauty and detachment. She is supposed to even reside in a lotus flower. In this bronze artwork, Lakshmi is seen standing on a lotus pedestal. The rich jewelry Dhana Lakshmi is bedecked in is depicted with intricate carving in the statue.
Goddess Lakshmi is seen four-armed. She holds lotus flowers in her two upper hands and her lower right and left hands are in Abhaya Mudra (assurance or granting fearlessness) and Varada Mudra (boon granting) respectively. She wears a richly carved crown and multiple, intricately carved necklaces highlighting her wealth bestowing aspect. Both her arms are adorned with exquisite armlets.
She is seen wearing an ornate belt around her waist and abdomen. A sash runs diagonally around her waist and upper left thigh. She wears a sari that forms graceful folds over her legs and a draping upper cloth that extends on both sides ending in floral folds. This sculpture is truly a masterpiece.
Special Comments
The mentioned weight is approximate as this is a large statue involving much artistic effort and artists didn't weigh the statue after creation. However the weight is estimated in relation to the size of the sculpture by their creator artists who are very experienced so the mentioned weight is close to actual. This statue is of significant size so it is created hollow. It already weighs much and if it were created solid that would have not only increased the weight of the sculpture unnecessarily but it also would be much cumbersome to move the sculpture.
