Description
This beautiful sculpture of Padmasambhava has his accurate and typical iconography with his general attributes.
Here he is shown seated on a lotus seat fashioned in Tibetan style. He holds the Vajra sceptre in his right hand resting on his knee. In his left he holds an elixir vase placed within a bowl of skull. Leaning on his left shoulder is the Khatvanga, his staff, surmounted by the Vajra cross, vase of elixir, three heads – wet, shrunken and skull and the trident.
He wears royal ornaments and robes indicative of his royal status. He wears a hat unique to him.
Special Comments
The pigment on the face has worn off over time. It contains a small percentage of gold.
"The statue was created using the Lost-Wax Method".
Since the wax model of the statue is destroyed during the making process, every statue made with this method is unique. No copy of such a piece can ever be made.
The staff in the statue is detachable.
