Significance of Radha Ashtami

As explained earlier, Radha Krishna Ashtami commemorates the divine birth of Srimati Radharani grandly. She was born to King Vrishabhanu and Queen Kirti in Barsana (near Mathura). In many Hindu scriptures (like Brahma Vaivarta Purana & Srimad Bhagavatam), Radha is described as the embodiment of Krishna’s internal Hladini Shakti (joy-giving power). It is also regarded as his source of divinity, auspiciousness, and spirituality. Her unconditional love for Krishna manifests the eternal relationship between the individual and the divine. So, devotees need to worship the goddess Radha to get Krishna’s blessings.

As per the legend, Radha was born on a golden lotus in a pond. She did not open her eyes until she saw baby Krishna. It manifests their inseparable relationship. As per Padma Purana, Radha’s birth was a divine act, aimed at her accompaniment with Krishna’s earthly pastimes 5,000 years ago.
