Description

This is quite a unique small copper idol of Ganesha (Ganapati) in South Indian style.

Ganesha is seen in his usual sitting position but shaded by Vasuki, the serpent king. This is in honour to Ganapati who blessed Vasuki that he would wear a serpent as his yajnopavitam (sacred thread).

He is seen four-armed bearing ankusha (goad), paasha (noose), modak (sweet) and danta (his own broken tusk) in his four hands (clockwise).

There is a small icon of mouse, Ganesha’s mount, engraved on the pedestal.
