An intricate small wood carving of Kartikeya for wall decoration. This is one of the most popular forms of Kartikeya in South India. He is also known as Subramanya in this form.
Kartikeya is bedecked with crown and seen seated on the spread wings of his mount, the peacock. He is four-armed, holding shakti (energy) in his right and and vajra (thunderbolt) in his left. His lower right hand is raised in abhaya mudra (granting fearlessness) and a vel (a particular javelin of Kartikeya) rests on his right shoulder. His left hand is in varada (granting boon) pose.
The backdrop of the wood carving is filled with raised peacock feathers.
This wood carving is hand carved by skilled wood artisans of Tamil Nadu. A beautiful artwork in wood, this can be hung on walls or placed on shelves as a decorative piece.
