Antique style Pichwai painting of Shrinathji during Rajbhog. Srinathji or Sri Krishna is seen in his traditional attire in this antique style pichwai painting of Shrinathji at the time he is offered Rajbhog or ‘food meant for kings’.
The basic stance of Srinathji is from the incident when he held Govardhana hill on the tip of his finger too save the residents of Braj from the wrath of Indra. So his one hand is raised and other behind his back. He is adorned with beautiful crown decorated with peacock feathers and other jewellery, which is painted in 22 carat gold paint in this pichwai painting.
Krishna’s complexion is dark blue and his hair is tied in a flowing braid. He wears two long garlands that nearly touch his feet. The inner one is a garland of wild flowers called Vanamala. The outer one is a long garland of lotus buds. He is dressed in white attire painted in pure silver paint. Shrinathji has his flute and a couple of lotus flowers tucked under his arm.
This is a work of art that strictly adheres to traditional style of Pichwai painting so it has a natural antique look about it. This painting is painted by the artists of Nathdwara temple on cloth. The colours used are created with organic materials like turmeric, stone dust etc. All gold used is of 22 carat purity.
