A rare, old statue of Kartikeya in brass. It isn't frequently that one comes across a beautiful piece of old art available for sale at a good price. This brass sculpture of Kartikeya is one such item.

Very finely handcrafted, this statue is perfect in balance, artistic grace and workmanship. The body of Lord Kartikeya is very well chiselled and so is the fine cloth draping his thighs. Jewellery is minimalist that emphasizes the solidity of the figure.

The peacock in the background is very intricately carved with every feather highlighted. It stands in the background complimenting the main figure perfectly. The sculpture has accumulated some patina and dirt over time, which was left for the buyer to either clean or retain as is.

Kartikeya is the elder son of Shiva and Parvati. He is also known as Skanda, Murugan, Shanmukha, Mahasen and is renowned as the god of war and valour. He is famed for having slayed the evil demon Tarakasura as the chief of the army of the gods.
