Shri Rama with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman is complete divinity with Shri Rama as the supreme Brahman, Sita - Brahman&nbsp;’s maya and Lakshmana, the devoted brother of Shri Rama as jiva (being), eternally dependent on Brahman. This beautiful set of four idols of Shri Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman in South Indian Chola style is one of the best available today. <br> <br>The idols - cast in brass using <a href="https://www.cottage9.com/art-technique/madhuchishtavidhana/">Madhuchishtavidhana</a>- are perfect in expression, pose and iconography. The features of Shri Rama and Lakshmana have come out just as described in <em>shilpashastra</em> texts, which is, <em>ateeva sundara </em>or &nbsp;‘of abundant beauty&nbsp;’. <br> <br>Shri Rama and Lakshmana are seen of stout, well formed body and supporting large bows in one hand and holding an crescent-moon-shaped, long arrow in the other which is artistically extended to rest on the lotus pedestal they stand on. Shri Rama&nbsp;’s bow is known as Kodanda. <br> <br>Both Sri Rama and Lakshmana are bedecked with rich jewels and wear tall, beautiful crowns. Sita Devi stands left to Sri Rama. She holds lotus in her left hand while her right arm dangles gracefully. She is dressed in delicate cloth and fine jewellery adorns her body. Her hair is tied up and fixed with jewellery in the shape of a crown. <br> <br>Shri Hanuman, the ardent devotee of Shri Rama stands away from the group adoring his lord Sri Rama flanked with Lakshmana and Sita. His hands are joined in supplication and he is shown relatively small in size, artistically indicating his status as a humble devotee before the majesty of Sri Rama. <br> <br>This outstanding set is created by award-winning artisans of Tamil Nadu. It is made in strict accordance with traditional iconography and pose of Chola style Ram, which is also one of the traditional themes of Chola statuary.
