Wood Carved Kathakali Mask

Brightly colored <em>Kathakali</em> mask carved in Walnut wood. Beautifully hand carved in wood and strikingly coloured, this <em>Kathakali</em> mask is a piece of excellent craftsmanship. It is handcrafted by traditional artists of South India. <br> <br><em>Kathakali</em>&nbsp; is one of the Indian classical dance forms and is native to Kerala. The performers of Kuchipudi are adorned with elaborate dresses. Also special, traditional make up is applied to their faces which is particular to <em>Kathakali</em> form of classical dance. This mask is a carving of the face of a <em>Kathakali</em> dancer whose face is decorated with such makeup.
